8. PROJECTS AND ITEMS

8.1 SEARCHING FOR A PROJECT

A project in EDMS is used to group items, documents and other projects into a logical collection of information that concerns a given activity. The LHC hardware baseline project in EDMS is a project consisting of many smaller projects, each of them concerning a subsystem or even a part of a subsystem.

When searching for e.g. the LHC hardware baseline the project search page can be used, see Figure 48.

The result of the search for the LHC hardware baseline is shown in Figure 49. Activating the Project Page link and “Set as Top” button, Figure 50, will bring you the LHC Hardware baseline in the EDMS Navigator.

8.2 SEARCHING FOR AN ITEM

An item in EDMS represents a component with its documentation attached. Items in turn may be organised in structures, which describe a subassembly or a complete system assembly. Searching for the items having the word “assembly” in the title returns a list of items, see Table 4 – Item search pages.
